Lead your employees to get a better result and “Be a Better Boss”

 

At a workshop in Chinchilla supported by AgriFood Skills Australia on how to ‘Be a Better Boss’ the participants considered the best aspects were:

  • Business efficiencies
  • Attracting the right employees
  • Online tools and systems
  • Handbook and notes to take away
  • Employment agreements/contracts and coming to agreement
  • Dealing with conflict in the workplace
  • What should be in job descriptions and contracts
  • One on one discussions
  • Communication
  • Techniques for improving structure within our business
  • The background in legal helped with the content of the overall workshop
  • Staff management and documentation
  • Video training and importance of documentation

Participants liked the laid back and easy going approach which made it more open and comfortable.  With two presenters and different styles it kept the workshop interesting.

In applying the skills and knowledge gained their role, participants highlighted the following aspects:

  • Applying the skills in everyday handling of clients and staff
  • CAREER method
  • Communication skills and business documents
  • Implement new ideas in small stages
  • Importance of having a meeting and talking
  • Make more checklists and documents to streamline expectations, policies and procedures
  • Managing future interviews, reviews and conflict management
  • Performance appraisals are a priority
  • Put into practice and sack myself from some tasks
  • Training tools and videos
  • Writing job descriptions and contracts
