Qualifications: Master of Education, Vocational Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning), Advanced Diploma of Management, Diploma of Quality Auditing, Diploma and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, and Certificate IV in Small Business Management.
Knowledge & Skills: Wendy is an innovator and thought-leader in workforce development and workforce planning. Her expertise includes entrepreneurship, small business management and Vocational Education and Training (VET). Wendy’s extensive experience includes management roles within private and public Registered Training Organisations, business development, consultancy, and business services.
With practical experience working across Australia in the Agriculture, Banking and Finance, Building and Construction, Civil Construction, Community Services, Contact Centre, Defence, Disability, Education, Employment Services, Energy, Events, Food and Wine, Government, Health, Higher Education, Manufacturing, Mining and Resources, Small Business, Telecommunications, Tourism, Vocational Education and Training (VET), and Water sectors, Wendy is known for her pragmatic and collaborative style.
Wendy’s goal of all enterprises, major projects, industries and regions having a workforce plan has enabled the development a 5 step process to build a workforce plan and an online tool to make the process easy.
Understanding the intersection between Workforce Development and Planning and Vocational Education and Training, Wendy regular presents and writes about announcements, strategic directions and key topics facilitating the Australian VET Leaders, NBN Enabled Capability Development Network and Workforce Planning Tools groups on LinkedIn.
An engaging conference presenter, speaker, coach, mentor, MC, host and facilitator, Wendy speaks at national, state and territory conferences sharing her action research, giving insights into reforms, policy, industry trends, and emerging areas such as National Broadband Network (NBN), Clean Tech, Regional Planning and National Projects.
Wendy has numerous papers, toolkits, reports and resources in workforce planning, workforce development, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), Vocational Education and Training, Applying Research and Information.
Committed to sustainability Wendy led her organisation to reduce their carbon emissions over a 4 year period from 60 to 6 tonnes of CO2 emissions. Wendy is the founding chair of the Small and Medium Around the Reservoir Traders (SMART) Business Association and the Chair of the Southern Adelaide SA Works Network.
Beginning her career as a trainee in state government, being quickly promoted and then working in a contact centre environment with Telstra, Wendy has a strong client focus. Wendy’s background includes business development, consultancy, training and assessing, leadership and management roles within private and public Registered Training Organisations in the areas of Traineeships and Apprenticeships (all industry sectors), Vocational Preparation and Business Services. Wendy was the youngest Educational Manager in TAFE in South Australia at 25 years of age. She established the first call/contact centre training facility in South Australia at the Institute, gaining sponsorship from numerous contact centre, technology and recruitment agency supporters. Whilst in this role, Wendy was approached by the Industry Skills Board for Information Technology to manage the Women into IT&T project for South Australian Business Vision 2010. Linked to her work within industry, the Department of Education and Children’s Services offered Wendy a position in a senior policy role with an IT&T industry focus in the secondary schooling sector.
In January 2003, at the age of 29, Wendy established operations for Wendy Perry and Associates Pty Ltd and with her first client, Reframing the Future she undertook a project management role working with organisations from around Australia from 2004-2008.
